On November 6, 2018 an Orientation Meeting was held at the KOICA Azerbaijan Office for Mr. Farid Mammadov, 3rd Secretary of the Economic Development and Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is going to represent Azerbaijan at the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) and Korea’s Learning and Accelerating Programme (LAP) to be held in Korea on November 12-15, 2018.
The program will outline key objectives of the 2018 learning and peer-to-peer information-sharing event, which is organized by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in cooperation with the UNDP Seoul Policy. The Forum brings together governments, bilateral and multilateral organizations, civil society and the private sector to assess the status of GPEDC implementation, address key challenges and exchange information regarding practical solutions. A total of three sessions have been organized annually (2014, 2015 and 2016) thus far. And During these years Azerbaijan was represented by the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan (SAPSSI).
By supporting countries in establishing and strengthening the mechanisms for multi-stakeholder dialogue and engagement, the GPEDC contributes to stakeholder efforts to mobilize and share the necessary financial resources, technology and knowledge, and to strengthen its effectiveness and impact towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The KOICA is a state agency, which was established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Korea in 1991, in order to implement grant and cooperation programs for developing nations. The KOICA has been inviting Azerbaijani public officials to various fellowship and scholarship programs since 1994. As of 2018, the number of KOICA alumni has reached over 700.
