The 3rd International vocal competition dedicated to the memory of world-famous Azerbaijani singer, People's Artist of the USSR Muslim Magomayev was held in Truskavets, Ukraine on December 1-4.
The competition was organized by the Azerbaijani Cultural Center named after Muslim Magomayev and Truskavets City Council in Ukraine with the support of the Azerbaijani Embassy to Ukraine, the Rada of Ukraine Azerbaijanis, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
People's Artists of Ukraine Gurbanali Abbasov (Chairman), Alexander Dyachenko and Ludmila Bojko were represented in jury. The opening and closing ceremonies of the competition were attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Elmira Akhundova and Mayor Andrei Kulchinsky. The event began with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Karabakh war. Ukrainian vocalists performed opera arias and songs from Muslim Magomayev's repertoire.
Victoria Melnik and Anastasia Povajnaya (I place), Igor Povajny and Nicole Chirka (II place), Yevgeny Rakhmanin, Maxim Gara and Pavel Grishenko (III place) were the winners of the competition. Andrei Olenin was awarded 14,000 hryvnias for promoting Magomayev's work, and Vitaly Ivanov was awarded 10,000 hryvnias for the best performance of Magomayev's songs. In total, the contestants won 17 awards in various categories.
As part of the competition, an exhibition by Asgar Javadov, a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan was organized. Most of the works displayed at the exhibition were dedicated to the great singer Muslim Magomayev and his activity.
