Baku, CASCFEN, Feb 13, 2013 – Yesterday the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued an official warning to the head of the Modern Musavat (Equality) Party Hafiz Hajiyev.
As told to the mass media (APA) chief of the Press Service of the Ministry Sadiq Gozalov, H.Hajiyev was invited to the Ministry. The Ministry officials explained him that his calls to cut an ear of the prominent writer Akram Aylisli can be regarded as a call to commit crime. And the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan oversees severe punishment for such a crime.
H.Hajiyev, who is known for his extraordinary calls and acts called last week to cut an ear to the prominent writer, an author of “The Stone Dreams” Akram Aylisli for his one sided position against Azerbaijan. And he promised to pay 10 thousands manats (12700$) to the person who cuts of one ear of the writer.
Azer Hasret, a chairman of Baku based freedom of expression watchdog Central Asian and Southern Caucasian Freedom of Expression Network (CASCFEN) expressed his appreciation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs` action and added that “this is the way how the legal state acts”.
“We believe that the government of Azerbaijan will take necessary steps to ensure security of the writer with whom my organization also is not agree. His novel called “The Stone Dreams” is one sided piece but he can`t be threatened by people like H.Hajiyev”, – said Azer Hasret.
