The Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Office in Azerbaijan held a meeting on July 31, 2018 with the KOICA Alumni Association’s (KOAZ) active members, who are the graduates of KOICA’s educational and training programs.
On the occasion, Country Director of the KOICA Azerbaijan Office Ms. Park Kumok, in her welcoming address said that KOICA is actively participating in socio-economic development of Azerbaijan through its Grant Aid Projects and HRD Programs focused on several areas. She touched upon the latest activities of KOICA in Azerbaijan, mentioning that more than 650 Azerbaijanian governmental officials have benefited from the KOICA Trainings starting since 1996 and having a significant contribution in human resources development of Azerbaijan. She highlighted the importance of KOAZ, as it assists toward the maintenance and development of the friendship among citizens of Korea and Azerbaijan by establishment of permanent contacts between organizations and KOICA by information interchange and maintaining mutual friendship relations.
During the Event Ms. Vafa Yagublu, the Head of the Educator's Professional Development Institute of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan was appointed as the President of the KOICA Alumni Association, who was nominated by the staff of the KOICA Azerbaijan Office and active KOAZ members. In her turn, Ms. Vafa noted that she is well aware of the weight of responsibilities and the gravity of the mission ahead. Nevertheless, she pledged to do her best to extend and strengthen the bilateral relations between both nations. Other executive members of KOAZ will be elected recently on the results of voting.
It was noted that several events are planned to be held till the end of 2018, such as Knowledge Sharing Programs, Public Awareness Campaigns, Charity Events and Annual Reception. At the end of the Event the Alumni enjoyed dinner and took a memorable group photo.
