Prosecutor Ruben Vardanyan demanded a life sentence
Baku Military Court issued a final verdict on the criminal case of Armenian citizen Ruben Vardanyan, who is accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorism, financing of terrorism and other serious crimes provided for in the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The court session was chaired by judge Zeynal Aghayev and judges Jamal Ramazanov and Anar Rzayev (together with reserve judge Gunel Samadova) attended.
The accused was provided with a native Russian translator and a state-funded defense attorney.
The hearing was attended by the accused person and his defense lawyer, some victims and their legal heirs, victims' representatives, prosecutors supporting the state prosecution, and Chief of Staff of the Cabinet of Ministers Rufat Mammadov, who acted on behalf of the state as a victim.
R. Vardanyan was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
It should be noted that the prosecutor who supported the state prosecution at the court hearing suggested that the accused R. Vardanyan be sentenced to life imprisonment.
