President Ilham Aliyev's business visit to the United States on August 8, 2025 was remembered as one of the important events in the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy. Azerbaijan's geographical location, energy infrastructure and transport capabilities make the country one of the important points of connection between the East and the West. The creation of new communications can create conditions for turning this advantage into wider economic opportunities.
Another important direction of the visit is economic and energy cooperation. A memorandum of cooperation between SOCAR and ExxonMobil was signed on August 7 before President Ilham Aliyev's meeting with US President's special representative Steve Witkoff. Prospects of Azerbaijan-US strategic cooperation, energy, regional peace and economic relations were discussed at the meeting.
This fact once again shows the opportunities created by Azerbaijan's energy policy for cooperation with the United States. Along with Azerbaijan's energy resources, green energy potential, electricity export and transport infrastructure can become new directions of future cooperation.
