Ilham Aliyev: Consistent measures are being implemented in the field of fighting corruption
Consistent measures are being implemented in the field of fighting corruption in Azerbaijan. Improving legislation, increasing transparency and accountability in public administration, digitalizing public services and ensuring their accessibility, as well as strengthening public control play an important role in preventing corruption.
AZpress.AZ reports that this was stated in an address by President Ilham Aliyev to the participants of the third high-level meeting of the heads of anti-corruption bodies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states held in Baku.
The head of state noted that during the nearly 30-year occupation of our lands, the illegal exploitation of our natural resources, including mineral deposits with the participation of foreign entities, caused severe damage to the region's ecology. Huge revenues generated as a result of these crimes were laundered through international financial channels.
The address also noted: “Digital development, especially the rapid spread of artificial intelligence, alongside expanding opportunities to fight corruption, also creates conditions for the emergence of new manifestations of corruption and the abuse of digital financial instruments. Efficient utilization of the potential of modern technological solutions by relevant law enforcement agencies is of special importance in preventing and effectively investigating such crimes.
I am confident that the discussions to be held and proposals to be put forward in Baku will serve to further strengthen cooperation in the fight against corruption among OIC member states, reinforce trust, and foster the sustainable development of our countries.”
