Ali NAJAFKHANLI:

The singer who enchanted Yesenin

Jabbar Garyagdioglu – 165

We first saw him in the famous "In the Kingdom of Oil and Millions" (1916) in the wedding and casino party scenes. Although the performance of Jabbar Garyagdioglu together with Tarzan Gurban Pirimov and kamancha player Mashadi Gulu is silent, the shots are important in terms of history. Later, in the film "The Chords of Long Life" (1981) about Uzeyir Hajibeyli, we met his character performed by Gadir Rustamov. It is his immortal voice that has survived to this day.

Jabbar Garyagdioglu was born in Shusha, the cradle of music, in 1861. His father, Mashadi Ismail, was a male dyer. He wanted to teach his art to Jabbar. However, Jabbarı's beautiful voice and natural talent led him to the royal family. Jabbargil's house was close to Cıdır plain, the most prosperous place in the city. He would sit and hum for hours on "Delikdash" when he was herding lambs with his goats. Later, these hums led to the development of a great singer.
