Earth will be hit tonight - Warning

A strong magnetic storm is expected on Earth today.

AZpress.AZ reports that the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences warns that a huge coronal hole in the Sun will cause geomagnetic fluctuations on our planet.

During the last day, the speed of the solar wind has increased, which has led to an increase in geomagnetic indices. According to scientists, the source of this storm is a huge coronal hole that stretches from the south pole of the Sun to the north pole and visually resembles a big "crack".

Experts note that the same structure was active a month ago and created G1-G2 (moderate) level magnetic storms on Earth at that time. As the shape and size of the hole have not changed at the moment, it is predicted that this year's impact will be similar.

According to calculations, the magnetic storm will start around midnight on March 13.

If the forecasts are correct, northern lights, a rare natural phenomenon, can be observed in many regions due to the impact of the hurricane.

We remind you that during magnetic storms, people who are sensitive to the weather may experience headache, fainting, and pressure changes. //Publica.az
