An awareness event on the fight against drug addiction was held in Aghjabadi +PHOTOS=17

On October 26, 2026, an awareness event was held at the Aghjabadi branch of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University in order to prevent drug addiction, strengthen the fight against illicit drug trafficking, and especially raise awareness among children and youth.
 

AZpress.AZ's regional correspondent reports that speeches were delivered by Khatai Zeynalov, First Deputy Head of the Aghjabadi District Executive Authority; Shahin Ismayilov, Senior Adviser of the permanent Working Group of the State Commission on Combatting Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking; Azer Dostuyev, employee of the Aghjabadi District Police Department; Eldaniz Ganbarov, Senior Adviser of the Youth and Sports Sector for Aghjabadi District under the Karabakh Regional Youth and Sports Department; Javid Melikzade, Senior Specialist of the Karabakh Regional Division of the State Committee on Work with Religious Organizations; Rada Gafarova, Head of the Karabakh Regional Office of the "Education Center for Youth" Public Union; and Aygun Gasimly, Adviser of the Legal and Personnel Issues Sector of the Aghjabadi District Executive Authority Administration.
The speeches provided detailed information on the dangers drug addiction poses to society, the negative impacts of drug use on human health and psychological state, and the severe social consequences of drug dependency. The importance of awareness work, protecting youth from harmful habits, and promoting a healthy lifestyle in preventing drug addiction was emphasized.
 

Additionally, the importance of joint activities of relevant institutions in combating illicit drug trafficking, measures implemented by law enforcement agencies in this direction, effective organization of youth leisure time, preservation of religious and moral values, and the role of civil society were brought to attention.
As part of the event, educational booklets reflecting information on the harms of drug addiction, the consequences of drug use, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle were distributed to students, as well as for dissemination among the district population and children.
 

It should be noted that the main purpose of organizing such events is to achieve the prevention of drug addiction, strengthening the fight against illicit drug trafficking, protecting children and youth from harmful habits, and raising public awareness in this field.
