The carpet cutting ceremony was attended by Leyla Aliyeva. Leyla Aliyeva got acquainted with the activities of the workshop, talked with the weavers, and after throwing the last loops on the carpets, participated in the cutting ceremony of the carpets prepared for the Shusha Mosque.
It should be noted that the carpets intended for the interior of the second floor of the Shusha Mosque were made on the basis of a special design in accordance with national carpet-making traditions. The total length of two carpets, each 12 meters wide and 19 meters long, is 38 meters. The weaving of these two carpets, which were prepared for the part of the mosque intended for women's worship, began on January 21, 2025. About 50 weaving women took part in the creation of two carpets woven in Shabran, and they threw about 50 million loops. Carpets reflect the high professionalism and rich artistic heritage of Azerbaijani carpet weaving art. Two looms of a new and different style were specially ordered to weave the carpet in its entirety. The machines were prepared by a group of experts invited from abroad just for "Azerkhalcha" OJSC.
It should be noted that the cutting ceremony of the circular hand-carpet made for the first floor of the Shusha Mosque, with a diameter of 22.17 meters and unparalleled in the history of world carpet-making, was held this month with the participation of Leyla Aliyeva. 150 weavers took part in the process of weaving this rare work of art based on motifs of the "Karabakh" carpet group and "Khatai" ornaments, and approximately 60 million threads were woven into the carpet.
