Leyla Aliyeva spoke at the "Green Energy Projects" session
On March 3, the "Green energy projects" session was held within the framework of the 12th meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council of Ministers and the 4th meeting of the Green Energy Consultative Council of Ministers at the Baku Congress Center.
Leyla Aliyeva spoke at the event and touched on the problem of the Caspian Sea, saying that it is an issue that causes more concern every year. "I must say that this problem does not only concern us and other countries neighboring the Caspian Sea. The Caspian Sea is actually a mirror of the wider global ecosystem. Therefore, if the Caspian Sea is in trouble, it means that the world ecosystem is also in trouble. Of course, this is a big concern. But I am only in favor of positive thinking, so I am sure that we are together, we will do everything we can to raise the level of the Caspian Sea again and its Aral Sea and We will not allow it to disappear like Lake Urmia," he added.
Leyla Aliyeva noted that the number of seals in the Caspian Sea has decreased from 1 million to 200,000 in the last 100 years.
He also said that our country is actively investing in renewable energy projects and our goal is to become a regional green energy center.
Director of the European Commission's Directorate General for Energy, Cristina Lobilyo Borrero, stated that the application of renewable clean technologies increases energy security by reducing dependence on fossil fuels, protects citizens and industry from price fluctuations, and noted that these changes are also an indicator of new industrial opportunities and long-term stability.
Director of the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources under the Ministry of Energy Javid Abdullayev spoke about the renewable energy potential of Azerbaijan and noted that work is being done in the direction of the development of bioenergy, geothermal resources and green hydrogen. At the same time, the director of the agency drew attention to the preparation of the main action documents within the framework of international cooperation for the transformation of Karabakh, Eastern Zangezur and Nakhchivan into a green energy zone.
General director of SOCAR Green, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Elmir Musayev, speaking about the company's activities, said that its main goals are to cooperate with international partners to decarbonize oil and gas facilities and consolidate expert knowledge in Azerbaijan.
Director of "Masdar Azerbaijan" LLC Murad Sadigov, Business Development Director of "ACWA Power" Polina Lyubomirova, Chief Financial Manager for the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey region of bp Ayla Azizova, Executive Director of the "Xlinks" project James Humphrey, Director of the International Finance Corporation for Western Balkans and South Caucasus countries Vibke Shlomer and others spoke about the prospects in the field of renewable energy.
