France to lead defense mission in Strait of Hormuz
About 15 countries are preparing a mission to ensure navigation safety in the Strait of Hormuz, and this mission is planned to be coordinated with Iran.
French President Emmanuel Macron announced this at a meeting of the National Defense Council.
The French leader said in a speech broadcast on channel X that "after the creation of conditions to facilitate the restoration of navigation, about 15 countries are already participating and participating in the planning of a serious defense mission led by France in coordination with Iran".
He welcomed "Iran's readiness to open the Strait of Hormuz" and the ceasefire agreement reached between Washington and Tehran.
