Ilham Aliyev received the Prime Minister of Lithuania

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Inga Ruginiene on April 9.

Our head of state expressed hope that the visit of the Prime Minister of Lithuania to our country will be effective and will contribute to the development of our bilateral relations.

Expressing gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the reception, Inga Ruginiene emphasized with pleasure that Azerbaijan and Lithuania have had good relations for many years.

During the conversation, it was reported that there are good prospects for the further expansion of economic and commercial relations between our countries, discussions were held on cooperation in energy, investments, education, agriculture and other fields, and the importance of organizing mutual visits of delegations in the work of expanding our relations was noted.

The Prime Minister of Lithuania congratulated the head of state on the establishment of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The Prime Minister of Lithuania said that large-scale restoration and construction works are being carried out in our liberated territories and noted that large-scale works are being carried out by the state of Azerbaijan in the direction of the return of former internally displaced persons.

Expressing his gratitude for the congratulations, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that it is our country that initiated peace in the region and the establishment of trade relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The head of our state said that the return of nearly 30,000 internally displaced persons to their ancestral homes has already been ensured. President Ilham Aliyev said that cities and villages are being built by Azerbaijan in our territories freed from occupation, and transport and other social infrastructure projects are being implemented. However, the head of our state noted that there is a problem of mines in those areas, which slows down the restoration and construction works. President Ilham Aliyev stated that more than 400 people have been killed or injured in mine explosions in our territories freed from occupation after the Patriotic War.

In addition to the bilateral agenda of Azerbaijan-Lithuania relations, issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations were touched upon in the meeting. In this regard, it was emphasized that Lithuania has always supported the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.

During the conversation, views on regional issues were also exchanged.
