Intimate AI created images of real people
For the first time, a US court held a citizen responsible for using artificial intelligence to create intimate images of real people.
This was stated in the statement of the Ministry of Justice.
It is noted that 37-year-old James Straler created explicit pictures of his ex-lovers and spread them on the Internet. He targeted at least six victims. In total, the criminal created more than 700 photos and videos with their participation.
Straler used more than 100 different SI models to create the images.
"J. Strahler is the first person to be prosecuted under the Privacy Act in the United States. We will not tolerate the abhorrent practice of publishing and distributing intimate AI-generated images of real people. We are committed to pursuing all avenues to bring these criminals to justice," said U.S. Attorney Dominic Cerase, who is handling the case.
A relevant law was passed in the United States in 2025 to ban the publication of fake intimate photos of real people.
